Spring Lake High School has two dances a year, one being Homecoming in the fall and the other being Snowcoming in the winter. Now that February has been reached, students get ready for Snowco. Celebrations are taking place during the three-day school week, including fundraisers, the assembly at the end of the day Friday, and Saturday night’s dance.
By now you probably have your suit and dresses ready, as well as tickets. If you do not have your tickets yet, you can buy them at the door of the dance for $15.
This year, the theme of the dance is different. Usually it is winter themed, containing snowflakes, blue colors, and winter backdrops as decorations. This year, it is Valentines themed! A poll went out on Schoology for students to vote for a theme and the majority chose Valentine’s. Now when you enter the dance you will see colors of red and pink.
The dance will take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the high school commons. Students will not be allowed to get into the dance after 8 p.m.
This year, Spring Lake High School’s student council is selling carnations starting on Wednesday during lunch. Each flower will be $2 and you can request to send them to your Valentine! If someone bought a flower for you, you will receive it sometime during the day on Friday. The money raised will be donated to the SXI program. The leftover flowers that do not get sold will be used as decorations for the dance. The flowers are coming from the local flower shop in Spring Lake, Spring lake Floral.
The pep assembly will take place at the end of the day on Friday, causing each class period that day to be cut short. There is a sign up on Schoology to participate in the games. The games you can sign up to participate in are Student vs. Teacher Dodgeball, Musical Chairs Basketball, and Teachers vs. Student Red Light-Green Light.
