Spring Lake Public Schools raised $52,000 from the Polar Plunge fundraising event on Tuesday, March 4th. The money will go toward Michigan’s Special Olympics. Spring Lake staff and students, from kindergarten to high school seniors, participated.
The event took place at Spring Lake Middle School in a “mobile pool” that was approximately 41 degrees. The Spring Lake Girls Swim and Dive team raised the most collective money as a group and, therefore, got to pick what Athletic Director JT Hogan would wear when he jumped; they decided on a Spring Lake Girls Swim and Dive sweatshirt and swim cap.
The event not only raised money for the Special Olympics program, but also awareness for their mission.
