“Brain breaks” have been a hit to some students, but an annoyance to others.
Brain breaks, during which the school hosts choice activities around the building, have taken place during seminar the past two years. Each break includes various different activities including, coloring, movie watching, meditating, walks, basketball games, pie eating competitions, cookouts, and outdoor activities.
Only one brain break has taken place during the 2024-2025 school year, which is a big change compared to the last. Students have mixed opinions on these days.
A poll went out to the students for them to vote on their opinion of brain breaks. A total of 76 students voted. About 70% of students voted they enjoy brain break, and about 30% voted they do not like brain breaks.
“I like the brain breaks but I wish they were not during seminar, I would rather do my homework,” Addison Baker said.
Bobby Neilson was asked if he likes brain breaks and responded, “Oh yeah, I do!”
Assistant Principal Tony Bush says he enjoys seeing kids come together for brain breaks and have a break from school work. While everyone may not enjoy them, some do, and he likes to see those kids be excited to come to school on brain break days.
“We are bringing fun back to school,” Bush said.
