On Thursday, September 11, Spring Lake High School held its annual Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony. This event celebrates former alumni of Spring Lake High School. There are different achievements celebrated that the former coaches and athletes have done.
This year, the athletic program highlighted the 2000 state runner-up football team along with other individuals. The football team competed at the now-demolished Silver Dome in Detroit, former home field of the Detroit Lions. The football program since that state-title trip has grown dramatically, from practicing on a weed-infested field to the new fieldhouse.
“My fondest memory will always be with the coaches and the players,” Coach Jerry Rabideau said, “because it really was all about the team.”
