Despite two days of challenging weather conditions–rain, wind, and low temperatures–junior Zoe Dull placed second at the MHSAA D3 State Golf Tournament on October 21-22. Dull shot a final score of 149 over the two-day, 36-hole tournament.
Dull recounts that her biggest challenge throughout the season was staying under par. At the state tournament, Dull finished by going only two over.
Dull ended the first day of the tournament tied for first place with Lauren Timpt, a senior from Lutheran High School. Both players scored a 74 over 18 holes. The second day, despite an amazing round, Dull fell behind and ended round two with a score of 75. Timpf scored a 67.
Throughout the season, Dull has been battling it out for the lead. At the conference meet, Dull came out victorious against Lauren Davis of Coopersville, by placing first overall. At the regional meet, Dull finished third.
Dull began to play golf at a young age, and competes in numerous tournaments out of season. Dull credits her dad as her biggest supporter.
“My dad brought me into golf and made me play even when I didn’t want to,” she said. Dull has been a member of the Spring Lake Varsity Golf team since her freshman year.
In addition to placing second in the state, Dull also was awarded First Team All-State Honors.
