This hurricane season, Florida has gotten hit with Hurricanes Helene and Milton. These hurricanes have left devastating effects on Western Florida and their residents, as well as nearing states.
Meteorologist John Morales, states that Hurricane Milton is reaching the mathematical maximum of what earth can create of a hurricane. Meteorologists are even considering creating a new category for Hurricane Milton because of how strong it became.
While Morales shares the status of the hurricane, he begins to cry during a live broadcast speaking on the horrible situation and knowing the danger of residents. This really put into perspective how serious Hurricane Milton was.
Residents that decide to stay in the high risk zones instead of evacuating are told to write their information in permanent marker on their body so the body can be identified after the hurricane.
Hurricane Milton’s storm surges are reaching as high as 15 feet. This creates life threatening flooding and destruction of peoples homes, businesses and surrounding areas.
Many have noticed the unusual shape of the hurricane, which is being compared to a skull (see photo). This was also noticed with hurricane Matthew in 2016.
The federal government has now approved nearly $2 billion in assistance. This is to help people across six states who were impacted greatly by the hurricanes.
If you or your family know someone who is affected by the hurricanes, the American Red Cross can help you reconnect in case of lost contact, or concern for their safety.
