Two weeks ago Spring Lake High School celebrated Homecoming and the annual Homecoming dance.
The students started the week with “color wars.” Seniors were black, juniors white, sophomores pink, and freshman blue.
Powderpuff was Monday night with seniors winning 21-0 and boys cheering from the sidelines.
Tuesday, students dressed in “frat gear” with backward caps and polo shirts. The belly flop contest was also on Tuesday. Wednesday was “college day” with students representing their favorite colleges. Thursday was “USA Day,” when students showed out in lots of American flags and red, white, and blue. Friday was “Laker out” in preparation for the Homecoming football game.
Before the football game there was the Homecoming parade, with floats of all the fall sports and Homecoming court. Members of Spring Lake’s first-ever 1965 graduating class also made an appearance.
The Homecoming football game was Friday night against Grand Rapids Christian. The varsity football team dominated the game with 41 points in the first half for a 62-28.
The Homecoming court walked out on the field during halftime. The 2024 court included Claire Arnold, Hanna Brown, Sophia Clark, Madeline Meigs, Lauren Nicles, Rylee Sabo, Nia Theune, Kate Witherell, Edward Brown, Carson Hein, Taggert Kelly, Prithvi Mutani, Garrett Nordman, Nicholas St. George, Gabriel Trask, and Elijah Zuelke.
Hanna Brown and Garrett Nordman took the crowns and became the king and queen.
Saturday brought even more fun with the Homecoming dance at Spring Lake High School, with students dressing to impress in semi formal dresses and suits.
Homecoming is a great time for our community to come together and celebrate the people that make this school stand out and make lasting memories.
