The fieldhouse is coming along as expected! Currently, the workers are in the process of installing roofing and insulation, and will be moving onto electricity/plumbing shortly. After they finish, they will move onto the interior. The name of the fieldhouse is the “Laker Athletic Center”, and is 72,000 square feet in total.
The interior of the fieldhouse will include a 70 yard football field, a mezzanine for wrestling and cheer, a full weight room, a multipurpose space, storage area, and a podium for marching band. There has also been a change to the entrance, it will be located at the front of the fieldhouse, instead of the side.
The fieldhouse will have many windows allowing sunlight to enter, but it will also protect from bad weather conditions. The fieldhouse is expected to be finished by August 2025, and will be available to use for students next year. The fieldhouse is intended to be used for our band, athletic teams from all schools, as well as PE class.
The fieldhouse is just a small part of Spring Lake’s $49.8 Million bond. The entire bond plans to make classroom interior updates, a brand new secure office and entry, fire alarm and security camera updates, a remodel of the media center, upgrading outdated infrastructure, new LED lighting, outdoor lighting, new instructional technology, new buses, and more. The project will last through fall of 2027.
