Applying for college is one of the most important parts of many student’s high school careers. Students who worked hard to have a chance of getting into highly-ranked universities finally get to see their hard work pay off. Overall, the college application process can be very exciting but also extremely nerve-racking. As a junior, I have yet to apply to any colleges, but thinking about the application process can be very stressful.
When asked about his experience with the college application process, senior Parker Woodwyk said, “The college application process is quite fun with all the essays I’ve gotten to write. As long as you’ve got the general essays out of the way early, it is pretty easy.” This is one perspective that many students share. To add to this, senior Rowan Hayanga stated “The college application process is significantly easier with a common application. I could reuse the same general essays for multiple schools, which is why I was able to apply to a variety of different universities.”
In addition to students applying for college, some students are heading directly into the workforce. Students who have developed their abilities in a trade or another field can head right into the workforce. For many jobs such as plumbers, electricians, and mechanics a college education is not needed, so many students who want to work in these professions choose not to go to college.
Another route students can take after college is joining a military branch. Joining the military can have many benefits, and it appeals to many students who may not be able to afford college. Many branches of the military will help pay for a student’s college education, which makes it a great option for students who otherwise would not be able to attend college.
