Colleges are starting to re-require test scores for applicants as the current juniors prepare to take the infamous SAT on Monday, April 21st. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, colleges and universities pulled back on their requirements for SATs. Universities either did not require applicants to turn in their score or it was optional for those who still wanted to. However, after a record number of applicants in the 2025 application year, colleges have begun to go back to “test-required” standards.
McKenzie Judge, junior, said “A part of me is excited in a way for the SATs, because it feels like a big step into the college journey and it makes everything feel real. But it’s more stressful, having to juggle it with AP exams and other school work, already being drained from everything else in the year. It feels like a countdown and I know I just have to grind it out. I’m just looking forward to that relief once it’s all over.”
Spring Lake students have been preparing for these final standardized tests for multiple years. From the M-Step in elementary school to Pre-SATs and SAT prep, the school has tried their best to train and help them succeed. Spring Lake also offers an optional SAT prep class for juniors in the winter trimester.
Junior year is said to be the “hardest year of high school”, but the juniors are tough and can “grind it out” until the end of the school year. Good luck on exams juniors!
