Spring Lake Girls Varsity Golf Places 8th at States

This past weekend, the Spring Lake girls’ varsity golf team placed 8th overall in the MHSAA State Tournament in Lansing. The girls played 36 holes and ended with a team score of 730.

Coached by Alec Lininger, the team is ranked 8th out of 73 teams in the MHSAA Division 3 rankings. They finished with a successful season after winning conference, winning regionals, and finishing in the top ten at states. 

Coach Lininger has been head coach of the Spring Lake girls’ varsity golf team for the past 5 seasons. “Golf can be mentally challenging, so keeping a positive mindset is always something we work on,” said Coach Lininger (via email). Next year the team hopes to make Top 5 in states. 

Zoe Dull, a sophomore, ended the tournament with the best score on the team, 177. Also leading the team to a top-ten win was junior Clara Saunders, with a score of 183, junior Eve McDonald, with a score of 185, senior Clair Stempky, 186, and finally senior Kayden Fritsche, 188.
