Seth Hoonhorst is the newest addition to the school’s physical education and health department. This trimester Hoonhort is currently teaching Advanced Strength Training, Lifetime Fitness, and Team Sports. His classes create a fun, welcoming environment for others and make them want to participate.
After graduating from Hudsonville High School, he went to college at GVSU where he played football for six years due to the Covid-19 breakout. He was a defensive lineman who kept a 4.0 throughout his college career. The extra time there helped him make friends, taught him more about being a teacher and being in a leadership role. He was able to get lots of extra teaching practice. He now has his degree in Teaching Education, Physical Education, and Health Education.
Hoonhorst moved back to West Michigan and wanted to teach at Spring Lake because he knew good things about the community and wanted to be a part in all of it. At home he has two younger siblings who he enjoyed camping with when he was a kid. Outside of school he enjoys going out on the golf course with friends and working out.
Going into the 24-25 school year, we welcome Mr. Hoonhorst to Spring Lake as a great addition to our community. Let’s all give him a warm welcome.
