There have been many new additions to Spring Lake High School this school year. One is Sarah Orleskie, a new Health and P. E. teacher.
Orleskie graduated from Spring Lake High School in 2008. She attended Michigan State University and earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. She then attended Grand Valley State University for her master’s degree. She worked in Lansing for six years before moving back to Spring Lake.
Going into her seventh year of teaching, she decided to move back to Spring Lake.
“Spring Lake is unchanged and there is a sense of comfort in that,” she said.
Orleskie said Lansing was a very different experience from Spring Lake.
“I learned a lot,” she said. “It was hard at first, but it was one of those things you learn to love.”
She said it was a weird experience to be back in the same school that she graduated from, and that it was exciting to work with the same teachers who she had.
Outside of school, Orleskie is a fan of many Michigan teams, including the Spartans, the Detroit Lions, and the Detroit Red Wings. She also is a fan of hockey, naming her dog, 6-year-old Stanley Joe, after the Stanley Cup and the Joe Louis Arena. Orleskie has many hobbies, some of them being crocheting, gardening and art.
Let’s give Sarah Orleskie a big welcome back to Spring Lake!
