Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and with Thanksgiving comes lots of fun traditions, great food, and fun family gatherings!
Thanksgiving meals are one of the best parts of Thanksgiving. There are many different types of food that are served. The Anchor asked students at Spring Lake High School what their favorite Thanksgiving foods are. One in five students voted for the most popular food– mashed potatoes. Close behind was mac and cheese, at 19%. Some other popular foods were stuffing, green bean casserole, cornbread, and rolls.
The Anchor also asked students what their favorite Thanksgiving traditions are. The majority of students said getting together with family, saying what they are thankful for, and eating food.
Lots of students said they watch the NFL, specifically the Lions. “We always watch the Lions,” one student said. “We play football in the backyard and watch the Lions Game,” another said.
A couple students said that their tradition was to do Christmas activities. “We set up our Christmas tree,” a student said. “Watch football then watch a Christmas movie,” another said.
The Anchor also asked students what their favorite part of Thanksgiving is. The most common response among students was that their favorite part of Thanksgiving is the food. Students said they like “getting to eat some delicious food!”
The next common response among students was that their favorite part of Thanksgiving is getting to see family. “My favorite part of Thanksgiving is seeing my family all together at once,” one student said. Another said, “I get to see all of my family who I don’t get to see very often.”
Spring Lake heads to Thanksgiving Break just seven school days after the winter trimester begins. Thanksgiving is on the 27th this year, in the middle of the three-day break.
