Spring Lake High School has been under construction in multiple spots since spring 2025. The most recent addition to the building is “The Hub” which opened when students returned from Spring Break.
The Hub is a place dedicated to give students a space to hangout, study, and have a free space. It includes many cool features: couches, TVs, a sink and kitchen area, tables, and sitting areas. Students are encouraged to eat their lunch there, study, do their online classes, and collaborate with other students. The nice thing about this addition is that it gives students a better space to work before and after school, instead of having to work in the lunch room.
The name choice was decided by SLHS students through a poll sent out by Principle Ben Armey. After lots of votes and suggestions, 35% of votes went to “The Hub” and the runner up was “The Laker Lounge.” Armey shares how it is important for students to be able to participate and express their voice in school decisions.
Armey says “This is the students’ space and they are the reason we have it, so it is important they feel heard and can use their voices in a positive way.”
