For the first time in 10 years, SLHS Quiz Bowl Team has qualified for the State competition.
States will be at Michigan State University on April 18. There will be a ton of matches between different schools and then teams will be put into a bracket to see who wins the final match. As they have worked hard all season at practices and competitions, the team is excited to continue their excitement into States.
Practices take place in Mr. Ryan’s classroom after school on Wednesdays. They practice their trivia skills and strategies that they then carry into the competitions.
At the competitions, the host asks trivia questions and students try to answer them as fast as they can by using a buzzer. The question is asked for both teams and there are three bonus questions to whoever wins the first one. The team has twenty people, but only four play at a time.
“This season has been a ton of fun as we’ve been able to visit other schools and compete against other teams. It’s cool watching the team grow and seeing each other answer random trivia,” says Keagan Ryan
