Has anyone ever said words to you that cut deep? You will have a chance to turn those words into a lasting movement during the Chalkboard Project here at Spring Lake High School.
Four years ago was the last time Spring Lake High School participated in the Chalkboard Project. This upcoming week the project is returning to SLHS on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Chalkboard Project was created by former Art teacher, Mrs. Gwinnup. Students hold a small chalkboard with a negative word/phrase that someone has said to them, or something that they don’t like about themselves, written on it. All pictures get printed out and hung around the school to promote awareness that words have a lasting impact. Eventually the chalkboard on each photo gets covered up by a sticky note and students replace the negative word with positive ones for the individual person.
If you want to participate, photos take place in the auditorium on Wednesday and Thursday time-time. Everyone needs to fill out a release waiver stating that they are okay publicly sharing their participation online. Waiver needs to be signed by a parent or guardian unless you are over 18 years of age.
