Years ago, students started to show an interest in psychology classes, which led to expansion of offerings with the always-full AP course. It also led teacher Karl Sineath to start a psychology club.
In the psychology club, students discuss fascinating issues of psychology: the meaning of dreams, the effect of artificial intelligence on therapy, and the psychology of popularity. They talk about how this affects our thoughts and behaviors in everyday life for different topics.
Student Lily Geyer shared her favorite topic they have talked about in the club. “My favorite topic is dreams,” she said. “We discussed the concept behind dreaming and reasons why we dream, and we had a chance to analyze our own dreams.”
Sineath said, “People have started using chat bots as therapists,” a topic which led to great discussion between the students and himself during a meeting.
If you are interested in joining this club, and “are interested in discussing the complexities of human thoughts and behavior,” Sineath said, this would be an enjoyable and fun club for you.
The meetings are filled with lots of input from club members and minimal lecture, which allows for everyone to add their thoughts.
Students meet during 1st lunch on Tuesdays and during 2nd lunch on Thursdays. They meet in Sineath’s classroom, which is room 310.
