Saturday will kick off the annual event here in the town of Spring Lake: Shamrock and Roll.
Shamrock and Roll continues to be a popular venue, as community members have the opportunity to gather at the Spring Lake Country Club to enjoy live music, appetizers, and fun activities.
Adults get to enjoy drinks and live music, while Spring Lake student volunteers work with their kids to offer a variety of activities. Rotary Interact Club’s involvement focuses on encouraging student involvement in the event to focus on community service and collaboration through their chapter.
The students are running many booths, such as face painting, scavenger hunts, ring toss, golf simulators, and many other stations. These are meant to be fun time passers for kids in attendance, allowing adults to enjoy the rest of the event.
Rotary puts a lot of work to help out with the event. Sarah Peterson and Christine Baker—Interact leaders who are organizing most of the details—are working hard, coordinating with students and caterers to make the event a success. “We help facilitate with people to get them settled into their stations, and also get all the materials for the scavenger hunts and arts and crafts,” Peterson shared.
Proceeds from drink sales go to the Rotary Interact club. These funds are used within the club to fund and put on future projects. Peterson shared her excitement for the event, and took the time to mention that the schools club “appreciates their willingness to partner with Spring Lake’s Interact group, and we hope the funds we earn from this will be beneficial and able to be put back into the community.”
