Spring Lake High School just added a new club: line dancing. Started by senior McKenzie Judge, the club had their first meeting on Monday, February 16.
Judge explained how to start the club. She started by emailing multiple teachers, until finally one agreed to help start her club, Mr. Polet. Mr. Polet is the choir teacher at Spring Lake High School, and he offered up his room for the line dancing club to use for their meetings.
During their meetings, Judge teaches the students certain dances that she has been taught before. Judge explained that she got into line dancing because of her older sister, and loves it so much that she wanted to share the unique experience with her classmates.
“You get to learn something that not a lot of people know how to do, and you can teach other people,” Judge said.
At the first meeting, they had about 6 people show up, but are hoping to have more come next time. The club meets for about 30 minutes every Monday in room 670. You do not need to have any experience to join.
“It is a lot of fun, easy to learn, and a great way to spend your afternoon if you don’t have anything else. Please come join!” said senior Maddie Kline, who attended the first club meeting.
