This year, Spring Lake High School has added a girls freshman basketball team. Last school year, there was no freshman team, so the opportunity to play has been opened up for Spring Lake’s girls.
The girls have been working hard this season and have had some great games. The season started with a scrimmage against Mona Shores High School and they had a very good win. Their first official game was at Allendale High School where it was a close game, but they still pulled through with a win.
Coach David Parsons said, “Overall I am very happy and excited about the direction the team is heading. We have 11 players and they all practice and play hard. Also, they are a very smart group and have been great at learning the plays and then putting them into action. I am looking forward to seeing how much we are improving and I anticipate us to have a very successful season.”
Not only is the coach excited for this season, but so is the team. Freshman Izzy Christian said, “The season has been going very well so far. I am very grateful for this freshman team and I am so excited for the rest of the season.”
The girls are looking forward to an amazing season and they can’t wait to show their improvement as the season goes on.
The freshman girls team takes on West Ottawa today at 4 p.m.
