The time is near! Students participating in NHS are scrambling to complete the volunteer hour requirements.
Whether you’re a Junior needing 20 hours or a senior needing 30, there are plenty of opportunities to get those requirements met. This can include tutoring, helping at shelters, spending time at a food pantry, participating in food drives, or volunteering at local events that need help.
Students have found that one of the easiest ways to get hours is just to reach out to people you know or local organizations to see if they need help in any way. They are most likely willing to have you help especially since there is no payment required for your service.
While it may seem stressful to reach the required hours, it is a very beneficial experience by being able to be in an organization that is focused on having students help others in need.
This doesn’t only reflect on you as a student, but your school as well to show others that we care about our community.
For Seniors, it is also important to know that these hours can count towards the mandatory 18 service hours that are needed before graduation.
If you feel stuck or don’t think that you’ll be able to get hours in, don’t be afraid to reach out through Innerview, officers, or advisors. Now is the time to get those hours in with Senior hours due March 18, and Junior hours due May 20.
