Tori Fouchea was invited to Nationals for the first time which takes place in Anaheim, California.

In order to get to nationals you have to place at state in the top 5 of judged events (presentations etc) or be a top 3 team.  There are many types of events. “At state, I did a team presentation about a business model with KayLynn Young, Emma Wahlberg, and Mya Phares.” Tori declares “I also presented a prepared speech about women in business and the wage gap.” Finally,  Tori took a test about management, marketing, and human resource concepts and that is how she qualified for nations.

The first place you compete is at regionals which were at Davenport University, then you qualify for the state competition which was in Grand Rapids. Your state placings decide if you go to Nationals which are held in Anaheim, California.

At the state competition, you meet a lot of people from around Michigan. Spring Lake has a big group that goes and that is always a lot of fun. Tori has not been to a National BPA conference yet, but she assumes it is just on a much larger scale and competing with more students compared to states.

Although Tori is the only one who made it to Nationals from SLHS, many people made it to states including Clarie Arnold, Eddie Brown, Conrad Bush, Gabriella Bush, Giselle Cossey, Finlay Cousineau, Delaney Decker, Alyssa Ellison, Ada Feasby, Reece Horton, Ani Hough, Jacob Kotkowicz, Ava Laug, Madeline Meigs, Jack Mulder, Corbin Oosting, Nolan Oosting, Gabriella Padula, Mya Phares, Kailyn Schlepp, Ava Twa. Catherine Vanfergriff, Emma Wahlberg, Amaya Wiseman, KayLynn Young, and of course Tori herself. Congratulations to all students who competed at states, and good luck to Tori in her future competition(s)!
